Fra i crepuscoli e le vigne della Valdichiana vi è un trio esoterico dedito ormai da alcuni anni alla composizione di musiche e testi; fra il Proto-Doom anni '70, il Progressive Rock Italiano e la Psichedelia, sono giunti al licenziamento del secondo lavoro:

HIC SUNT LEONES

A un anno dal debutto discografico, The Past, che ha presentato al pubblico una delle realtà più particolari del panorama doom italiano e che è valso al gruppo l'onore di condividere palchi internazionali con leggende dell'underground come Pagan Altar, Slough Feg, Hell, Solstice, Forsaken e Mirror Of Deception, i Focus Indulgens tornano con un sorprendente secondo album.

Alcune cose sono cambiate rispetto al passato, e il titolo del disco è già un avvertimento esplicito al povero piccolo pellegrino che vi si avvicinerà. Per i testi, dall'inglese si passa all'italiano; per la musica, si fanno più marcate le influenze degli anni '70 e in particolare del progressive all'italiana. A beneficiarne è lo spettro di soluzioni e suoni utilizzati, confluiti in una resa sonora vivida (ancora una volta opera di Matteo Burico dello studio di registrazione Rokkaforte) che accompagna i momenti più rarefatti e sottolinea gli spunti più energici tipici della registrazione dal vivo e in presa diretta di batteria, basso e chitarra ritmica. Ne risulta un ideale incrocio tra Le Orme e i Black Sabbath di metà anni '70.

A impreziosire l'opera, i disegni di Carlo Castellani per copertina e libretto che assicurano un effetto straniante e due cartoline con le foto del gruppo in omaggio con ogni copia acquistata.

Ignorate il monito stampato in copertina, addentratevi nei meandri di questo disco e sarà come danzare, inebriati, su tappeti d'uva appena raccolta.

Among the twilights and the vineyards of the Valdichiana there is an esoteric trio dedicated for some years now to the composition of music and lyrics; between '70s Proto-Doom, the Italian progressive rock and psychedelia, they have come to the release of the second work:

HIC SUNT LEONES

One year after its debut album, The Past, that presented to the public one of the most peculiar Italian doom bands and that earned the group the honor of sharing the stage with international underground legends such as Pagan Altar, Slough Feg, Hell, Solstice, Forsaken and Mirror Of Deception, Focus Indulgens return with a stunning second album.

Some things have changed, and the title of the disc itself (Here Are Lions) is an explicit warning to that poor little pilgrim who approaches. As for the lyrics, they switch from English to Italian; as for the music, the influences of the '70s and in particular the Italian progressive rock influences are more prominent. Benefitting from these changes is the spectrum of solutions and sounds used, merged into a vivid sound (courtesy again of Matteo Burico of Rokkaforte recording studios) that accompanies the most tranquil moments and sharpens the hardest parts which are typical of the live recording of drums, bass and rhythm guitar. The result is a perfect cross between Le Orme and mid-'70s Black Sabbath.

To embellish this work, Carlo Castellani's paintings for cover and booklet providing an alienating effect, and two postcards with pictures of the band, free with every copy purchased.

Ignore the warning printed on the cover, go into the intricacies of this album and it will be like dancing, inebriated, on carpets of freshly picked grapes.
